I was having coffee with a friend recently and our conversation turned to the upcoming chilly temperatures that Chicago is known for. A few people overheard our chat and gave us irritated looks that told us we should move somewhere warm. I couldn't agree more but my finances and my desire to relocate to a warmer area just aren't on the same page.
Don't get me wrong, Chicago is a fabulous city...in the summer. From October to March, Chicago is a cold and miserable beast. I live within walking distance to the lake which is great in the summer but during the colder months the lake sends the most bone chilling winds over the city. Okay I'm starting to get depressed, weather aside Chicago is a great place to live and the social scene is very diverse. I'm going to try to love my fair city all year round as opposed to turning my back on it when the temperatures plummet. And honestly the biggest complaint I have about Chicago is the weather, my other issues with the city are all political and that's a whole other post.
Welcome to my journey as I rediscover the fabness of the city.

This post was totally singing my life Kim! I live in Toronto and while I love living in such a great city it kicks my a$$ every winter. It's hard to see the fabness of your city when your eyelashes are frozen lol
I know how you feel...except about the coldness. Don't really have that too much in the South...you should see how we react to snow...LOL Anyhoo I just joined a meetup group to help discover my own city. It's easy to get really immune to your city because you've been their for so long. So I'm hoping to find a way to rediscover my love for it...at least while I'm still here...
Max, Toronto winters may be able to give Chicago a run for the money, lol! I lose my desire to even try to be cute in the winter but I'm going to force myself to keep my fab game up regardless of the weather.
Hmm...a snow storm in the south might cripple the area, lol. Good luck with the meet up group, hopefully, you'll find some hidden gems in your city.
