Style & Music

1.31.2008

Hey guys! I'm so very busy these days. Work is moving at a frantic pace and I'm juggling more projects than I care to even think about. Music is the only soul soother I have these days. Style and music go so well together. Have you ever heard a song that transported you to a hip lounge where everyone is cooler than cool and the deejay is spinning a sultry mix of acid jazz, house, and chill out? I love that type of music. Here's a few CDs that have been in heavy rotation for me the past couple of weeks:

Check them out and let me know what you think.

Product Review: Savannah Bee Company Magnolia Hand Lotion

1.22.2008

Living in Chicago means that I get to experience the most brutal winters each and every year. Bitter cold winds and below freezing temps are my cross to bear. I absolutely hate winter for what it does to my hair and skin.
I've tried just about every hand lotion on the market. Many of them were forgettable because they just did not do the job. I need a hand cream that leaves my hands well moisturized and soft. I don't want a greasy coating left behind.
During a recent trip to Bath & Body Works, I grabbed a tube of Savannah Bee Company's Magnolia Hand Lotion. It was marked down to $3 so I tossed it in my shopping bag without even thinking. Why am I now in love with a hand lotion? Is that crazy??? This stuff works! No greasy coating on my hands. It soaks into my skin and the scent is so calming. I have found my ultimate hand lotion. It's also great to rub on your cuticles during the work day. I touch so much paper and my office is very dry. I'm planning to stock up on a couple more tubes.
Just so you know, Bath & Body Works no longer carries Savannah Bee products so you have to go to the website to place an order or find a retailer in your area.

The "It" Bag is Dead

1.21.2008

Dior Gypsey Ruffle Hobo, $1755.00

Fendi Multicolor Spy Bag, $2190.00

Yves Saint Laurent Muse bag, $1395.00

To all the designer bag loving fashionistas (myself included), the “It” bag du jour is dead.

According to LA Times writer Monica Corcoran, the oft coveted designer “It” bag’s demise has finally happened. Let us all bow our heads and have a moment of silence as we try and process this devastating news. It’s tragic, I know. What’s a fashionista to do?

I have a great appreciation for quality and design. Designer bags are gorgeous and made with rich lust worthy materials. I understand that a lot goes into crafting an “It” bag. The people behind these designs are incredibly talented. I have nothing but respect for them and their creativity. Designer bag prices do not shock me at all. I know that I can’t afford to own the real thing and I'm not trying to go into debt to have the latest bag. I’m a real woman whose budget is not on par with Hollywood starlets who often get their bags for free. The closest I’m ever going to get to a Hermes Birkin bag is a picture in Vogue magazine and I am totally okay with that.

My own bag collection is a stylish mix of a few high end, moderate, and quality leather no name carryalls. I own Charles David, Coach, Gucci, Louis Vuitton, and Tory Burch. Spending my days chasing the next hottest bag until I own it is not my idea of a good use of my time or money. I’m no slave to trends. I‘m far too impatient to add my name to a wait list...for. a. bag. I hope it will never be that serious in my accessory life. Besides, I like to think that whatever bag I’m carrying is an “IT” bag.

Sipping in Style...

1.18.2008

It's too cold to go out. Stay home. Order in. Call the girls over and mix up some Delicious Night Blackberry Martinis. Then start talking about guys, fashion, and celebrities. Have fun but sip responsibly...

~

Donna Karan has recently introduced her new DKNY DELICIOUS NIGHT fragrance.

p.i.n.k. vodka has teamed up with the label and created an edible version of the sexy new scent.
While the fragrance embraces all possibilities of the night in the city, the DELICIOUS NIGHT blackberry martini will experience its never-ending rush.

p.i.n.k. is the worlds first ultra-premium imported vodka from Holland flawlessly infused with caffeine and guarana. Thus creating a niche where one no longer needs to mix their vodka with an energy drink.

No more unpleasant after-taste, no additional calories or carbs...it can be enjoyed on the rocks, mixed with soda, or shaken in martinis.

DELICIOUS NIGHT Blackberry Martini
1 oz p.i.n.k. ® vodka
1 ½ oz cranberry juice
approximately 1 oz blackberry brandy
½ oz Cointreau ®
Splash of sour mix
Fresh blackberries

Combine ingredients over ice and shake well.
Strain into a well-chilled martini glass.
Pour 1 ½ scoops of mulled blackberries through the center.
Stir slightly.
Garnish with a blackberry on the edge of the glass.

Cheers!

People Style Watch - February

People Style Watch is quickly becoming one of my favorite magazines. I bought the February issue today and perused it while eating lunch at my desk. Can't wait to get home and really get into the entire issue. It's simply guilty style reading at it's best.

Target GO International: Jovovich Hawk

1.16.2008

The next fashion installment in Target's ever popular Go International line is Jovovich Hawk.

The picture comes from the February issue of Bazaar magazine. The line hits Target stores and the website March 2nd. I can't wait to see the entire collection.

Take a look at Jovovich Hawk's website to get a feel for their designs. I'm hoping for something similar to the April Dress and the Elisa Top in the Target collection.
