I started reading Alek Wek's book last week and I am thoroughly enjoying it.Her story is quite inspiring. Alek's parents managed to remain in positive spirits throughout the most trying times in their country. If you don't know a lot about Sudan and the war, Alek's book will provide a fair amount of history in addition to her story.
